Every day that Louisiana’s pro-life laws are in effect, babies are being protected from the violence of abortion!
As of September 29 2022, we estimate that 1652 babies have been protected from legal abortion in Louisiana!
Here’s how we figure that out.
- As of August 16, 2022, 97 days have passed since Roe v. Wade was overturned through Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health on June 24, 2022.
- In 2021, there were 7,444 abortions in Louisiana, which comes out statistically speaking to 20 abortions a day.
- If we multiply 97 (days since Roe overturned) x 20 (abortions per day in 2021), we get 1,940.
- However, the Louisiana Department of Health Advocate reported through a Freedom of Information Request that 288 abortions were reported to the Louisiana Department of Health since June 24th during the time in which state courts absurdly paused Louisiana’s laws from being enforced. We have requested verification for these numbers from the Department of Health. In the meantime, we subtract 288 from 1940, which brings us to 1652 babies protected since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Of course, these numbers are only an estimate based on past abortion statistics and do not include many factors, including women who may have traveled out of state to have an abortion. However, with the closure of abortion businesses in Louisiana, we are confident babies are being saved from abortion!
